b'You do not need a spiral house for this work ofthe spirit. But you do need the space and the intention. When I was just beginning to work with stone, Raffertys Bench was my space for meditating. It was a simple stone bench and at the time I had to walk over quarry rubble to get to it. But it was a space I had created with sacred intention and an open heart, a space where I could let go ofthe beliefs and confusion related to past and future and simply sit with the truth ofthe present moment. All ofmy stonework, and ultimately the Spiral House, grew out ofthat spacethe seed experience ofcreating it and then the ongoing experience ofsitting there open to possibilities that neither ofus could yet imagine.
